About me
I am a retiree who spent his career working in the social welfare sector and is well familiar with the darker side of human nature and the stresses of life which create opportunities for criminal behaviour.
I live in Adelaide, capital of the State of South Australia.
I've been an avid reader of crime fiction since I was a teenager many years ago. I especially love the British school of crime writing and its exploration of the ‘why’ rather than just the ‘who’. My writing heroes include PD James, Ian Rankin, Elizabeth George and Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine.
The Climate Change Murders was my first foray into writing a crime novel.
In my retirement I've developed a passion for local history. I’m the author of several works of local history.
I'm Convenor of the Prospect (South Australia) Local History Group and a committee member of the Friends of Prospect Library.
I run a group for Prospect University of the Third Age called Tell Me What You Think, a current affairs group.
I belong to a crime fiction readers group at Campbelltown University of the Third Age.
In the 1980s I wrote a doctoral thesis on housing policy and published this in 2005.
Another of my interests is heritage buildings. My wife and I have travelled extensively within South Australia photographing and researching fine old buildings. You can see the results on our website.
I’m married and have two adult daughters, and two grandchildren.
My wife and I love overseas travel.
